For Children’s Day: The 10 Children’s Rights

„If we want to achieve true peace in the world, we have to start with the children,“  is a quote by Mahatma Gandhi.

In this spirit, today, on International Children’s Day (1 June), we would like to draw attention to the importance of respecting the rights of children and we emphasise our commitment to defending them, with a special focus on the people of Chocó, Colombia. This region, marked by poverty and armed conflict, unfortunately holds much potential for child rights violations. Therefore, it is important for us to continue to support the affected populations and to enable a positive impact on the situation of children in the Chocó through our constant work.



For this reason, we share the 10 fundamental children’s rights according to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which must become a reality in all parts of the world:

  • 1. RECHT AUF GLEICHHEIT

    Kinder haben das Recht, gleich behandelt zu werden. Kein Kind darf benachteiligt werden.

  • 2. RECHT AUF BILDUNG

    Kinder haben das Recht, zu lernen und eine Ausbildung zu machen, die ihren Bedürfnissen und Fähigkeiten entspricht.

  • 3. RECHT AUF SPIEL, FREIZEIT UND RUHE

    Kinder haben das Recht, zu spielen, sich zu erholen und künstlerisch tätig zu sein.

  • 4. RECHT AUF ELTERLICHE FÜRSORGE

    Kinder haben das Recht auf elterliche Fürsorge und Liebe. Eltern müssen dafür sorgen, dass es ihren Kindern gut geht und sie ein liebevolles und sicheres Zuhause zu haben.

  • 5. RECHT AUF GESUNDHEIT

    Kinder haben das Recht, gesund zu leben, Geborgenheit zu finden und keine Not zu leiden.

  • 6. RECHT AUF SCHUTZ IM KRIEG UND AUF DER FLUCHT

    Kinder haben das Recht, im Krieg und auf der Flucht besonders geschützt zu werden.

  • 7. RECHT AUF MEINUNGSÄUSSERUNG, INFORMATION UND GEHÖR

    Kinder haben das Recht, bei allen Fragen, die sie selbst betreffen, mitzubestimmen, sich zu informieren und zu sagen, was sie denken.

  • 8. RECHT AUF SCHUTZ VOR AUSBEUTUNG UND GEWALT

    Kinder haben das Recht auf Schutz vor Gewalt, Missbrauch und Ausbeutung.

  • 9. RECHT AUF PRIVATSPHÄRE UND PERSÖNLICHE EHRE

    Kinder haben das Recht, dass ihr Privatleben und ihre Würde geachtet werden.

  • 10. RECHT AUF SCHUTZ UND BETREUUNG BEI BEHINDERUNG

    Kinder haben das Recht, im Fall von Behinderung besondere Fürsorge und Förderung zu erfahren, damit sie aktiv am Leben teilnehmen können.
