The extension of the school „Colegio Diocesano San José“
increases the capacity of this church and regionally renowned school in Istmina from 200 to 400 pupils and thus has the necessary space to train pupils up to a school-leaving certificate with university entrance qualification.
Therefore, the „Colegio Diocesano San José“ can not only allow more female pupils per class to benefit from the above-average quality of teaching at the Colegio Diocesano compared to the other schools in the Chocó, but it can also teach more classes, up to the ‘bachillerato’ level.
The extension of the Colegio Diocesano is part of the first project of CASA HOGAR, the hostel for girls called „Casa Hogar Niña María“. The residents of the hostel „Casa Hogar Niña María“ receive a scholarship for attending this renowned school. Through the structural expansion, the Colegio Diocesano ensures that despite the scholarships for the girls, the school fees can continue at a comparatively low rate. The expansion of the school’s content to include university entrance qualifications also offers all pupils, but above all the girls of „Casa Hogar Niña María“.
