Pipe and water damage in the bathrooms, collapsed walls, defective cables – after more than 35 years in operation, the “Paula Montal de la Italia” dormitory was struggling with various structural damages. About 20 young girls from rural communities live in the dormitory in the small town of San José del Palmar while they go to school in San José.
Extensive repairs were urgently needed to improve the girls’ quality of life. For example, the sanitary facilities were repaired, the electrical infrastructure was renewed, walls were rebuilt and walls were painted so that the dormitory could shine in new splendor and the residents could once again feel really comfortable. The construction work also enabled the dormitory to increase its capacity for additional girls.
Note: The construction work was delayed by the Corona pandemic and the resulting dynamics.
