OUR PROJECTS IN COLOMBIA

CASA HOGAR has only existed since the end of 2015 – and can already look back on a number of successfully completed projects.
These successes were made possible not only by local support in Colombia, but above all by consistent donation work here in Germany and support from other development cooperation organisations.

The construction of the hostel
„Casa Hogar Niña María”

… in Istmina Tadó is intended to provide a safe and secure home for 20 girls (and 40 in the long term), so that they can live in a safe environment while graduating from Colegio Diocesano.

more

The expansion of the
„Colegio Diocesano San José”

… increases the capacity of this ecclesiastically and regionally renowned school in Istmina from 200 to 400 pupils and thus has the necessary space to train pupils up to a school-leaving certificate with university entrance qualification.

more

The extension of the break time area
of the „Colegio Diocesano San José”

… enables the pupils to play outside in a protected area during breaks and free hours, without danger from the passing street and without disturbing other classes during learning.

more

The enclosure of the area around the hostel
„Casa Hogar Niña María“

… enables the residents of the hostel to play in the open air after learning without worries and to experience a sheltered space beyond the dwelling house with the possibility of retreating.

more

The support with the running costs of the hostel
„Casa Hogar Niña María“

… serves both to feed the residents and the running costs such as electricity in the hostel and above all secures the financing of a professional pedagogical force urgently needed in this context.

more

The initial equipment of a kitchen in the hostel
„Casa Hogar Niña María“

… enables the inexpensive preparation of food for the residents of the hostel and at the same time creates a space in which the girls learn to actively participate in the community.

more

The equipment of a study room in the hostel
„Casa Hogar Niña María“

… enables the girls to retreat for concentrated learning and work.

more

Two additional water tanks in the hostel
„Casa Hogar Niña María“

… offer the residents enough water for boiling and drinking and for showering twice a day—a necessity in the heat of the Chocó and against the—many disease-carrying—insects..

more

„Vamos a construir paz“ – an inner-columbian-intercultural exchange

… brought the residents of Casa Hogar Niña María and students of a private school near Bogotá closer together. They learned about the different life situations and yet similar life dreams in their common homeland.

more

In a video workshop with young people on the role of women

… ten young people from Istmina discussed the role and significance of women and recorded their own thoughts in the form of a short video.

more

Equipping a computer room in the
„Colegio Diocesano San José“

… enables students to acquire the IT skills that are so urgently needed today. In this way, the students from Istmina can also fulfil long-term requirements for future jobs.

more

Construction of a break time pavilion for a school in Pángala

… enables 400 pupils of indigenous and Afro-Columbian origin to stay in a dry place sheltered from the rain, where they can eat and exchange ideas.

more

Emergency aid after the flooding by the river San Juan

… in a particularly affected area near Istmina.
